I'm Too...

Slightly edited shot of my legs. Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app.

Strange but true, yesterday I was told that I am not allowed to come to work in short pants anymore, not by one, not by two, but by three different managers, it seems that they don't have any real work to do, so they spend their days staring at the legs of their colleagues, and if anybody has sexier legs than they do, they'll ban them from being displayed, or at least I imagine this must be how they came up with this idea. Yes, I do know that it's December now, and yes, I do understand that most people are cold, I can see them wearing their Winter gear and still they're freezing, but why do I have to be forced to adhere to the same girlieman'ish standards?

I can't help it that I'm a real dude, who can stand in the wind wearing only his shorts and shirt, laughing at those pussies! The reason I was given for this weird request was that we're allowed to wear shorts in the office when it's warm outside, but now it's not warm anymore, so I'll have to cover my legs...am I the only one who thinks that these Mofos need to find some serious tasks to take care of, and let me be as cool and free as I want to? Of course this has a lot to do with the new guy at the top, I've mentioned already that he is trying to overcome his own insecurity by making everybody look like they went to the same Elite-university that he visited, probably because he's tired of being the only wanker who walks around looking like his mum still picks out his clothes, lol :D

Anway, I apologize to all my female and gay colleagues, who always seemed to enjoy looking at my legs, that I had to bow to the powers that be, I'm so sorry, but luckily it's almost Spring again, so expect these babies back on display very soon, hahaha :D

This..., originally uploaded by AmsterSam - The Wicked Reflectah.

Unedited shot of a biker in Amsterdam reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

The title of today's post is "This Was 2011", even though the year isn't over yet, and I've only done this because I don't want to be the last one who summarizes his year and looks back at the events that graced my life in the mostly awesome, pretty splendid 2011, I mean, it just seems that the year-reviews start earlier and earlier each time around, just like the Christmas decoration gets put up in the shops and streets earlier each season, probably causing us to start celebrating the X-mas time as of Mid-Summer soon. So yeah, I'd rather be too early than too late in saying: 2011 was great, many good things and a few bad things happened to me, but I will always fondly remember it as one of my favorite years of this Millennium, possibly of my whole life. I hope the same goes for you, and that your, and my 2012 will be even better :)

Greetings...

Random shot of Amsterdam. Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app.

As you might know, I love my home town Amsterdam a lot, and one of the many reasons for that is that everything looks so cool. To prove my point, I've taken some random pictures of scenes that I came across while I was walking through the best city in the world, and with a little bit of help from my mobile phone and the Camera360 app, created the pretty shots I've posted today. Luckily not everybody shares the same strong emotional bond with Amsterdam, otherwise we'd have 7 billion people living here, and it would be impossible to bike around without killing hundreds of them by accident. So wherever you are, come and visit us, but then you'll have to go back home, it's in your own best interest, getting hit by a bike is not something you'd write home about (even if you still can), and I'd hate to be responsible for hurting you, thank you :)

Almost weekend!

The Bike-Eater...

Unedited shot of a biker in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

Help!! Amsterdam has been invaded by Bike-eating Aliens, that devour any bike that they can get their slimy hands on, often while the owners are still riding them through the mean streets of the best city in the world! I was lucky enough to capture these horrible events as they happened, in this picture you can actually see a biker being dissolved and sucked into the vortex of the Alien abyss, never to be seen again! I urge the NATO to start bombing the bases of these greedy creatures from outer space before it's too late and there won't be any bikers left! Naturally, I am mostly concerned for my own well-being, as biking is my sole means of transportation, and I'd just hate to get slurped up into the stomach of a Space Invader through a puddle, just to satisfy their need for metal and rubber! SOS! United Nations, where are you? American Army, invade us now, to save us from this Doom-scenario! Heeeeeelp!!! Hahaha :D

Have a good start into the new week!

Occupy...

Shot of the 'Zwarte Piet' at the "Occupy Amsterdam" movement @ the Beursplein in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1.

Christmas is just around the corner, and the annual ongoing discussion if the little helper of Sinterklaas, who is called Zwarte Piet, is a symbol for Racism, or just a fun character in a fictitious story to enchant the Dutch children, is flaring up again, and instead of making this season merrier, it is causing a tense atmosphere and many heated arguments on- and offline. One interesting thing I've noticed is, that those defending this traditions seem to be mostly white Dutch people, who see this as a part of their childhood experience that should not be burdened with such a heavy topic as racism, and defend this opinion by saying things like "Zwarte Pieten are black because of chimney soot" or "It's fun for the kids", etc, while those who have faced racism and discrimination in their lives, due to their ethnic background or skin-color, are the ones who feel offended and insulted by Black Peter, and might get beaten up and arrested by the police for voicing their opinion, which speaks for itself you might think. One thing is for sure, if even ze Germans are confused and amused about this issue, and start throwing rocks at the Dutch from their little Glasshouse of a racist past on an industrial scale, the Dutch should realize that something is going really wrong here, and it surely is a situation that needs clarification and correction ;-D

Personally I'm a bit divided on this issue, as I love Christmas and the frolic follies surrounding it, but I'd hate to have a good time by insulting large groups of the population of this country in the process, so I've decided that I'll hit any Zwarte Piet I'll encounter in the streets with my bike, but not in any vital areas of his body, so that he'll be reminded that he's a controversial character, yet he's inhabiting a tiny niche in my heart that is devoted to the childish parts of my inner workings, may all of my friends displaying various beautiful shades of skin forgive me for being such an ignorant, retarded Reflectah ;-)

Wicked...

Unedited shot of a biker in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

Yesterday I went to the city center to shoot some wicked reflections, and there were puddles everywhere, I really had a hard time deciding where to point my camera, and ended up with a bunch of photos of places that I've taken billions and billions of pictures of in the past already, sigh. I don't know what it is about certain streets and buildings that makes them so appealing, maybe it's because they're just oh so pretty, maybe it's because they're en route to the downtown area, or maybe it's just pure laziness on my part. I do hope that you like them anyway, and I that you are not too bored by having to look at them, lol :D

Enjoy the weekend, have a wonderful time :)

P.s.: The Van Gogh museum is currently running a photo contest, and of course I have submitted some of my Amsterdam photos. I would really appreciate it if you could support my quest for winning the main price (a Canon EOS D600), by clicking on the links below, and hitting the 'Tweet' and 'Like' button. This campaign is part of the official "AmsterSam World Domination Plan", and I will fondly remember your assistance in executing it, thank you very much... and remember, you're with us, or you're against us, lol :D

The Kaiser...

Slightly edited shot of the lovely Miss K in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1.

The lovely Miss K honored the best city in the world with her presence last weekend, and since the pictures I've posted of her then seemed rather popular, I've decided to release another mini-collection featuring her beautiful smile and royal hair. In case you are not aware of this, she is the Empress of Amsterdam and rules our hometown with a caring, yet strong guiding hand, not unlike a hard, but fair parent that only wants the best for her children, but understands that sometimes freedom means to restrict it, a delicious paradox that probably only make sense if you, like me, just woke up a short while ago, and only had 2 coffees so far, lol. To show our appreciation for her excellent style of ruling and regulating our lives, we have named the famous 'Kaiserbroodjes' after her, it's the least we could do to let her know that we are willing, adoring subjects of her reign of terror wicked way of overlooking life in the best city in the world...all hail to the Empress :D

Thank God it's Friday :)

Occupy...

Shot of the Revolution in Amsterdam. Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app. :)

The company I work for got this new chief manager, and the guy is making lots of new friends left and right by trying to impose his idea of how we should work, dress and behave in a rather arrogant, aggressive way. He keeps walking around, looking at us lowlife scumbags, who earn his salary with hard work, through his fancy glasses with his beady little eyes, that are full of fear that he might catch some horrible disease if he comes too close to us. In fact he never ventures anywhere near the regular worker-bees and limits his contacts to the upper management, shooting us dirty looks whenever he has to walk around in those areas where the people who earn as much in a month as he spends on a suit (or possibly just his tasteless, overprize tie, that he has pointing at the empty space between his shaky legs), and does his best to try to change us into something that he does not have to be afraid of, but since he's paying peanuts, he's getting smelly, uneducated, feeces-throwing monkeys like us, and not a bunch of Rocket-scientist who share his impecable sense of style and fashion, a simple fact of life that he does not seem to be able to compute in his Elite-University-educated, wavy-hair wearing, butt-ugly head, lol :D

I have one thing to tell you, dear Mr.Slavemaster Sir Lordy Lordship: We are the majority, and very soon those few dickweeds like yourself, who are keeping us in a permanent position of enslavement, giving us just enough crumbs of the money-cake to allow us to barely survive, instead of being able to build better lives for ourselves and our families, will be removed from their undeserved position of power and dealt with accordingly. You are the 1%, and what a shining, puke-inducing example you are, you stand for everything that's wrong with this world today, you are part of the problem, not part of the solution, so F*ck You, F*ck You very much! But don't worry, the 99% are awake, and we're going to face-palm your scared little ass until you realize that you've been occupied, you fake F*ck, hahaha :D

...This...

Batman...

Slightly edited shot of people outside the Tuschinski Cinema in Amsterdam reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing besides some added contrast and saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

I am madly in love with the building that houses the Tuschinski Cinema in Amsterdam, it looks so wicked and beautiful that it makes me want to climb on top of it and search for Super-Villains to fight, which is probably what I'll do once I'm done with my transformation! I think if you squint your eyes and look to the top of the building, you can actually see Batman and Robin hanging out up there, waiting for the Batsignal to shine through the thick fog that is still holding the best city in the world in its greyish grip, but as soon as I'm ready to take over defending my home town from all the lawless elements, I might have to kick them off the Tuschinski and ask them nicely to find some other place for their crime-fighting needs, hahaha :D

AmsterSam...

Shot of myself reflected on a car in Amsterdam. Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app. :)

I have a secret to tell you...I was not always a wicked Reflectah, I was born to a pair of human parents (hey Mum and Dad...oh, wait, they don't have Internet, lol ;) and only later in life started to slowly transform into the puddle-loving, mobile-shooting, wicked Dude I am today. The process was mostly pain-free and probably initiated by some cosmic rays penetrating planet Earth, or some poisoned insect biting me, I'll never know for sure, but since this is a fun experience anyway, I will not waste my time trying to figure out the how and what, instead I'm just going to enjoy the ride and see where it takes me :)

I do hope though that I'm not going to turn green one of these days, it's just no my color, I'd much rather grow some steel-claws, learn how to fly or acquire some other useful features that will aid me in fighting Super-Villains, should the need ever arise. And if there is no worthy Adversary to punch, burn or freeze (as I don't know yet what further transformations I might experience, I can't be too specific on my wicked powers!), I'll just speed-bike through the best city in the world and knock-out those few remaining Junkies who specialize in bike-theft to finance their truly retarded and senseless addiction, mhuahahaha :D

P.s. Yes, I do know and understand that Junkies are not evil people, they're sick, and with the correct treatment, which does not consist of knocking them out, can become valuable members of society...but if they'd want that, they would not have become Junkies in the first place, or at least that's what my feeble mind tries to make me believe...sorry Heroin-lovers, I could not think of any other population-group to make fun of today, my bad ;-D

P.p.s. Come to think of it, you've stolen so many of my bikes in the past, that actually a little bit of punching might be well deserved...just a tiny little bit, I promise I won't use them wicked steel-claws, or at least not more than necessary, hahaha :D

Greetings...

Shot of a bike in Amsterdam. Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app :)

As you probably know (or not), Amsterdam is the bike capital of Holland/Europe/World (no, I did not google this to get my facts straight, I'm going with my gut-feeling here :), and our steel horses are covering large areas of the best city in the world, according to some boring stats, we even have more bikes than people, but I'm too lazy to count them myself, so this is just another unsubstantiated claim I'm making here...well, sort of, since I've provided the link above :)

The only thing I find surprising about this, is that there are still some people left who don't ride a bike (and yes, I do know some of them personally), a way of living that I can't even begin to imagine...the day I'll be too old to ride a bike will be the day that I'll ask my friends to duck-tape me to the fabulous Lord Bikenheimer, and push me into the Amstel head-first, because it will a very sad day. Of course I'm hoping and wishing, that even if I should make it to a hundred or more years of age, that I'll still be able to fill the hearts and minds of my fellow Amsterdammers with terror and remorse when they see me approaching on my bike with a wicked smile on my wrinkly face, and a "Yippie-Kai-Yay, Motherfucker!" on my old, dehydrated lips, lol :D

Have a wonderful week :)
