S@m The Hellraiser

Slightly edited mobile phone cam shot of Me&Mobie, reflected on the side window of a van in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 phone. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

The Dutch team is doing really good in the FIFA World Cup and we're all giving it our best effort to show the boys that we support them with all our might (and orange clothing) to make sure that this time the cup is coming to the best country in the world, the lovely wicked old Netherlands :)

I like this one, the stripe on the window makes me look like an orange version of the Hellraiser, don't you think? Have a wonderful day, almost weekend :))

Team Holland - We're...

Unedited shot of Dutch supporters celebrating the victory over Slovakia yesterday in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

Yesterday the Dutch team beat Slovakia with 2:1 (this is becoming a habit!) in the FIFA World Cup, and we're stepping things up a notch, every available surface is colored orange, everybody with a cup-size of C or higher (yes, men too, Moobs can be a valuable weapon sometimes!) has to wear mandatory tight orange clothes and the only soft drink you can still order anywhere is either SiSi Orange or Fanta...World Championship, here we come, hahaha :D

Have a great day, try to get a hold of something orange and think of us, thank you :)

If you want to follow the World Cup, but have no TV around, check out this website, all the matches, all for free, all live&direct :))

I've also made a movie of Amsterdam in Orange, check it out on my YouTube page :)

Slightly edited shot of a poster advertising Lingerie in the Westerpark in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

You can say whatever you want about the 2010 FIFA World Cup (boring, uninspired, Vuvuzela-manic, etc.) but it surely brings out the best in our advertising people...posters like this one make me wish that every day was a World Cup day, haha ;-P

May the best team win, and may their fans look like these ladies...or at least like the average Dutch supporters :)

Ballsy!

Ballsy!, originally uploaded by AmsterS@m - The Wicked Reflectah.

Slightly edited shot of a German car with window flags riding through Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

It seems that the boring matches of the 2010 FIFA World Cup have clouded the judgement of some visitors of the best city in the world in regards to the colors that they should be flying...I'm almost sure that that is not the Dutch flag hanging from the windows, which means that the driver of that car is either very ballsy and wants to see how far he/she can go, or is simply ignorant to possible dangers that a ride through the capital of the Netherlands with the wrong flag can entail...or, it's somebody who, like me, believes in the uniting, pacifying and border-crossing power of an international sports event that involves and captures a major part of the world population :-))

Today the German team will play against England, a traditionally interesting situation that hopefully won't end in another boring 90 minutes of midfield passes and tons of fouls to avoid getting the ball anywhere near their own goal boxes...if that happens, I will boycott the World Cup...at least until tomorrow, when the Dutch team plays again, haha :-D

Still Not French!

Slightly edited shot of a Fight-snail attacking my bike, the beloved Lord Bikenheimer, in the Westerpark in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

You might remember this little fella from last year, it's a very aggressive, starved Fight-snail that attacked me and Bikey when we were cruising through the park, but luckily for him/her, I am a very peaceful guy and I am not French, so we managed to resolve that encounter in a smooth manner...if I had known back then that this F***er was just waiting to ambush me again one year later, at exactly the same spot, things probably would have gone differently and very likely ended with a squishing sound! You're hopefully not too surprised to hear that my dinner that night looked a lot like this, hahaha ;-P

Have a wonderful weekend!

Reflections Of Amsterdam - The Orange Flood

Unedited shot of orange flags reflected in a canal in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

Last night the Dutch team beat Cameroon with 2:1 in the FIFA World Cup and the country is covered in an orange layer that gets thicker with each victory...the people at the Amsterdam city hall are even considering to allow us to put up big screens in public places to watch the matches with our friends&families, but without having to buy the overprized drinks in the few bars that have set up TV's on their terraces (they're still not allowed to serve beer there, customers will have to go inside and get it by themselfes, sigh), and where groups larger then 15 can actually enjoy this (rather boring, I have to admit) tournament. As you might know by now if you keep an eye on this stream, the Dutch supporters are the freakin' best supporters in the world, and deserve better than that, we even go to jail for our team if the situation requires it (and look hot while doing so ;)), but we will not be stopped, not this time, now now, hand over that golden cup right away or we'll shoot (with balls, not bullets, naturally!), hahaha :D

Reflections Of Amsterdam - More Seagulls!

Unedited shot of tourists and bikers in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

Yesterday I shared my feelings about tourists walking in the middle of the road with you, and just in case you thought I made the whole thing up, here's another shot of the same couple, this time surrounded by bikes having to maneuver around them and more tourists standing in the street, wondering why everybody is honking at them...you can clearly see that the biker to the left is getting his big chain lock ready to smack the next obstacle in its deserving face...

I would like to say the following to that angry biker: "Calm down young man, everybody has the right, no the duty, the obligation, to visit the best city in the world at least once in their life time, so who are we to bitch about them not being able to distinguish the street from the sidewalk, maybe they are from very poor countries, where they don't have sidewalks, and the whole principle of separating the motorized traffic from their soft, mushy bodies is simply alien to them...and hey, why am I sitting on this foreign looking guy's chest, pounding his face into the pavement with my own big chain lock?!", or something to that tune, hahaha ;-D

Have a great day, enjoy the sunshine, try to do only fun things today!

Reflections Of Amsterdam - Look, A Seagull!

Unedited shot of tourists walking around in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

I am always amazed that we don't have to mourn thousands of dead tourists each day, considering how they tend to walk in the middle of the mean streets of the best city in the world, heads in the clouds, hanging around in the until a car/bike/tram will honk at them and chase them back onto the pavement where they belong, hehe :)

This is the rule, not an exception, and it goes across all social-, age- and gender-groups, it's really bizarre when you think about it, grown up people, that manage to live fulfilled lives in their home countries, can not figure out how to stay on the safe side of the main road, risking limbs&live just to stand in a busy spot with a map in their hands, and a wondering expression on their faces, that changes to sheer terror every few seconds, when another mad-man/woman (usually me ;) comes rushing towards them in/on a physically superior vehicle that is aiming at their soft parts, ringing his/her bell/horn in the most urging manners, arms waving at them frantically, and still, they'll stay where they are, like a deer in the headlights of an approaching car, only to smile at you apologetically (if they still can!) once you've crashed into them and are entangled in this wreck of steel, wheels and bones (hopefully theirs, not yours!) and say 'Sorry' in whatever tongue they master best...sigh :-P

Even though the lovely Miss E is indicating with her innocent look that it wasn't her who ate all my bananas, I got the photos to prove it, haha ;-D
