Reflections Of Amsterdam - The Grasshopper

Reflections Of Amsterdam - The Grasshopper

Unedited mobile phone cam shot of the 'Grasshopper' Coffeeshop, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

The 'Grasshopper' Coffeeshop is another landmark in the best city in the world, it's huge, it's green and it's got a cute name, even though I would never set foot inside it, for fear of being mistaken for a tourist and having to pay unreasonable prices for whatever merchandise it is they're having on offer in there...but just like the 'Bulldog' or the 'Smokey', it seems to wildly appeal to the urges of the visitors of Amsterdam, so I guess they're doing something right :)

Thank God it's Friday :)))

Reflections Of Amsterdam - The Bulldog

Unedited mobile phone cam shot of the 'Bulldog' Coffeeshop, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

You might have heard of the 'Bulldog' Coffeeshop, even if you have never been to the best city in the world, it's a Household brand in this wicked world, at least in certain circles...you can find them all over the planet, even though the ones in Amsterdam are probably those that are known the best :)

My personal opinion is that they are tourist-traps, like most of these shops, but if it rocks your boat, don't forget to pay them a visit when you're around, they need the money and I'm sure they have some nice T-shirts, Energy-drinks, Hotel rooms or other likable things that appeal to everybody, not just the smokey people :)

Almost weekend!

Reflections Of Amsterdam - The Nutcracker

Unedited mobile phone cam shot of a biker, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

Last week I read this article about the Dutch Deputy Prime Minister, telling us that all this freedom we have will destroy the planet! This is the article in Dutch and this is the translated English version.
He claims that 'Freedom is not getting rid of limitations...Freedom gets realized by recognizing limitations/borders' (my own translation :) and I guess he's right, I'd only like to add something to that: 'Freedom is Slavery!' 'War is Peace!' 'Ignorance is Strength!' ;-D
Did I mention that this guy is member of the uptight, braindamaged Weirdos good folks of the Dutch ChristianUnion party?! These are the people that are controlling this great, lovely country, strange but true :))

Reflections Of Amsterdam - Work Hard, Play Hard

Unedited mobile phone cam shot of 2 stone(d) dudes holding up a balcony, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

If you work a lot, you also need to rest a lot, or alternatively, party a lot...I've worked a looot in the last 1 1/2 years (often feeling like those stone(d) dudes up there!) and now it's time to rest a looot, I am off every Friday since last week and I'm looking ahead to 3 weeks vacation time around Christmas, that I intend to spend in the best city of the world (of course, where else :), taking tons of puddle reflections (or ice reflections, depending on the weather :), doing some serious chilling out and catching up with all you lovely guys&girls right here on Flickr, I know I've largely neglected most of you and hardly ever have time to comment on your pictures anymore, but I'll try to make up for it :))

Almost weekend!

Reflections Of Amsterdam - Hanky Panky

Slightly edited mobile phone cam shot of the Tattoo shop of Henk 'Hanky Panky' Schiffmacher, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

Henk Schiffmacher is a living legend, he started the world famous 'Hanky Panky' Tattoo shop in the Amsterdam Red Light District and has made many famous people look more colorful with his Art. In this picture you see his shop on the Ceintuurbaan 416, luckily it had a big puddle just outside the window when I passed by last weekend :)

Have a good start into the new week!

Reflections Of Amsterdam - '1984' version 2.0

Unedited mobile phone cam shot of 2 guys looking at me, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

This is a very typical situation when I take my puddle pictures, people look at me, not sure what I'm doing and how they should respond to a guy sitting next to a puddle with his mobile phone, waving it at the wet spot, so I've trained myself to respond with this sweet 'I'm not crazy, I'm creative' smile that usually elicits a smile in return, often accompanied by understanding eye winking, from the people walking by :-))

This has very likely saved me from them calling the cops and me spending many nights in jail, as I tend to forget the mandatory ID-card at home and would probably have a hard time explaining to the arresting police officers that I was indeed shooting wicked reflections and not trying to poison the good folks of Amsterdam by attempting to enter LSD or Anthrax into the water-cycle through a puddle...an absurd scenario, but not as absurd as the fact that the Netherlands are the only country in the world where you can get locked up if you don't have an ID-card on you..I know people who got arrested for failing to produce a valid ID and they remained locked up until somebody else would confirm their identity!

"Over 400 million people across Europe, in 21 out of the 25 EU member-states, use ID cards. In only five countries currently —Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Greece and Spain — are ID cards mandatory. Even in these nations, citizens do not have to carry them at all times. Only the Netherlands has made them obligatory...as a response to the threat of terrorism and illegal immigration."

Reflections Of Amsterdam - Naughty

Unedited mobile phone cam shot of the legs of the lovely Miss C, reflected in a puddle. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

I like girls, they look good and enrich life with their good-lookingness and Beauty...if there was a 'Girls Fan-club', I'd be a member for life and more than happy to pay my monthly fee to support the general 'Girlness' of the world and I'm sure so would most men, hehe :)

Today is 'Sinterklaas', the Dutch Christmas, and all the good kids get gifts, while all the naughty kids get stuffed in a bag and have to go back to Spain with Sinterklaas aka Santa Claus...wait, going to Spain, for free, does not really sound like a punishment, maybe it does pay off to be a naughty kid after all, hahaha ;-D

As you can see the lovely Miss C is wearing boots to make sure she'll get the maximum amount of gifts, good thinking :))
