Reflections Of Amsterdam - The Emperor's New Winter Clothes

Unedited shot of people on the Kalverstraat in Amsterdam reflected in a puddle, taken with a Panasonic DMC-FX35. No editing besides a bit of cropping, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

This is the most winter'ish Winter I've seen in a long time, it snows almost every day for weeks now, trains and planes are delayed or canceled altogether and the shops ran out of salt for the streets, snow-shovels and yes, Winter clothes! The Dutch people are advised to go to Belgium or Germany to buy proper clothes for this kind of weather...what a Banana republic the Netherlands have become, haha :D

I'll post some snow pictures later today!

Reflections Of Amsterdam - Icesterdam

Unedited shot of a biker and buildings close to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, reflected in a canal, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

In the last weeks hundreds of Amsterdammers have broken their bones because city hall for some obscure reason refuses to do anything about the ice&snow covering the streets in the best city in the world...the hospitals are reporting that they are so busy that they have to send injured people away to other cities because they're overcrowded with hurt biker and pedestrians, what a weird situation! The local news station AT5 has chosen to distract us from this really lousy way of handling the Winter by sending mixed signals, they make fun of the situation and claim that nobody got hurt, while in the national news they mention the manymany people that broke their bones...I don't get it, what are they trying to tell us?! :))

Be careful out there!

Reflections Of Amsterdam - The Funky Finger

Unedited shot of people walking by the Casino in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

I've been to the Casino only once, with a group of friends on a night out, we played some Roulette and actually won a couple hundred bucks that we then spent in clubs and bars until it was all gone...what a wicked night that was :))

In general I don't believe in gambling, it just offers so many options to get rid of your money, I'd rather spend it on things that I can still use and enjoy the next day :)

Reflections Of Amsterdam - The Haunted House

Unedited shot of a house close to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, reflected in a canal, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

That building is so pretty, I might consider buying it too when I'm rich, and keeping it as a 2nd or 3rd home, maybe I'll let my friends who come to visit me in the best city in the world stay in there, I'm sure they'd like that. I'm also pretty sure that this house is haunted, it just has the right look for a building possessed by a Poltergeist or something, so I'll stick to the 'American Hotel' for my own personal sheltering needs, hehe ;-P

Reflections Of Amsterdam - The Tower Of Power

Unedited shot of a house close to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, reflected in a canal, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

The area where this building lives is one of my favorites in all of Amsterdam, everything looks so neat and rich and pretty, the Rijksmuseum is just across the street, the Leidseplein around the corner and many other cool places within walking distance, including most of the big clubs in the best city in the world :))

Reflections Of Amsterdam - Howard Hughes Was Here

Unedited shot of the 'American Hotel' at the Leidseplein in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

I really like that building, it's pretty, it's big and it looks really good in a puddle. Once I'm rich from selling my wicked reflection pictures, I will buy the whole place and sit around on the top floor like Howard Hughes, secluded and mentally slightly on the edge, shooting puddle photos with the superstrong zoom of a specially handcrafted mobile phone cam made out of pure gold, encrusted with diamonds, worrying about germs instead of the important things in life, but you can always come and visit me in my giant suite, hahaha ;-D
